New cleanroom for Norma UPS

Norma UPS will have a new cleanroom with a floor surface area of 500 m2 from mid-March 2009. A cleanroom is a conditioned space in which the temperature, humidity and notably the number of dust particles per m3 are controlled. The requirement is for an ISO class-7 cleanroom (dust class 10,000) with an ultramodern cleaning section. Locally, a dust class of 1,000 will be possible by means of a flow box.

Atomic Cleaning level
The cleaning process will remove contamination from the products as well as the cleanroom environment. This will ensure that the product is not re-contaminated by the surroundings. A cleanroom environment is a requirement for many clients operating in the semi-conductor sector, notably for the new generation of lithographic systems used in an ultraclean vacuum environment. For this requirement, the products need to be clean at the atom level.

Dust-free and Flexible
The new cleanroom was designed to ensure rapid and continuous improvement of the air quality. The new cleanroom is also a response to the increasing demand to assemble systems in a dust-free environment. Another starting point for the cleanroom is flexibility. The cyclic market of a large number of customers requires rapid switching between production. We are able to do that by means of a flexible production environment and the application of Lean-Manufacturing techniques.
The new cleanroom, with its modern cleaning and assembly facilities, enables Norma to expand its role of a strategic partner for complex precision systems.
